Atlanta-based musicians trans.lu.cent have re-folded their musical identity
into the shape of thinhorse. Spare, emotive, anchored solidly in post-punk rhythms,
they've established a sound that's both accessible and compelling.
Is it even valid to claim "musical influences" in this era? If so, there are echos of
Nick Cave's gravelled howl in Michael Donnelly's voice. Taut and powerful,
it pulls lyric strings of fear and loss, while ethereal guitar and tight bass lines
layer over a driving, unpredictable beat. In other tracks the mood may be
lighter, but there's no loss in style or intensity.
